The original nine holes of the golf course of the Richmond (Yorkshire) Golf Club were played twice until an 18-hole golf course was opened in 1972, thanks to clever utilisation of the limited land available. Sited high above the historic town and exposed to the elements, play on the golf course can be especially difficult when the wind blows.
