The Maple Downs Golf and Country Club originated in 1954 when a group of 11 men came up with the idea of building a golf course, located on North Dufferin Street, being about 20 minutes from Eglinton and Bathurst. The original name of the club was to be the Maple Grove Golf and Country Club, until the final name of the Maple Downs Golf and Country Club was decided upon.
