ERNIE BACK ON TOP

It was a fine day for Ernie Els in George at the Ernie Els Invitational, presented by Absa, and played at the Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate, on the respective Outeniqua and Montagu golf courses.

Winning the championship with six birdies and an eagle on the par-five 18^th for 64 and a two-round total of 126, Els completed his impeccable game with an unbelievable 18 under par. Coming just behind Els in this golfing tournament, in joint second, were Darren Fichardt and Louis Oosthuizen.

On his win, Els commented, “I don’t know where that came from.I wish I could work out what I did so that I can take it on the Tour with me! This has been a fantastic event – I think the best Ernie Els Invitational ever.”

Els went on to say, “The weather has been great, the courses superb and everything has gone amazingly. To raise the amount of money we did last night was fantastic and it is for such a good cause.”

Raising just over R1.5 million for the Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation, many aspiring golfers will now get the opportunities to soar to golfing greatness with the financial aid which can now be given to them.

Ernie Els, not only a golfer of note, but also a kind and generous human being. A true golfing legend in his own right.
