GOOSEN TO GET ACT TOGETHER 23 January 2008 - After having an average season last year, and, in turn, dropping out of the world top 20 rankings, South African born Retief Goosen is needing to get his act together this year if he wishes to get his career back on track; and he will get the chance to do this while defending his Qatar Masters title this week.
Commenting on last year, Goosen said that he had a great start to the season in 2007 with his victory at Qatar, but unfortunately things went slightly pear-shaped and he experienced many difficulties with his game, with him always worrying about his swing and his putting. He has been working hard at improving his game, and has even hired a swing coach. Defending his title for the first prize of $416 660 at the Doha Golf Club will however not be an easy challenge as he will be facing the cream of the golfing crop. Challenging Goosen at this the 11th edition of the tournament will be the likes of Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood, Paul Casey, Luke Donald, Nick Dougherty, Ian Poulter, Niclas Fasth and Colin Montgomerie. |
