MICKELSON MISSES PEBBLE BEACH TITLE WIN

11 February 2008 - It was during the third round of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am that, by missing the cut with a meager 6 shots, Phil Mickelson had to put down his golfing clubs on Saturday and accept defeat.

It was a sextuple-bogey at Pebble Beach Golf Links that destroyed Mickelson’s chances a t regaining the 2008 Pebble Beach Title, for the fourth time this year.

"It was missing all those putts because had I had anything go in today, I wouldn't have had to try to force something there at the end”, Mickelson commented. "I never felt good on the greens and I don't know what the deal is. They were rolling the best that I've ever seen them."

Mickelson closed with a six-over-par 78. This has been the American’s worst score since his returning match in 2005 at the Buick Invitational where he also got a 78.

Mickelson is scheduled to play in the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles putting off this week.
