OCHOA TAKES HSBC WOMEN’S TITLE

6 March 2008 – On Sunday the title for the HSBC Women’s Champions golf tournament was claimed in Singapore by Loren Ochoa, an amazing eleven shots ahead of second position’s Annika Sorenstam.

Alongside the men’s HSBC title holder, Phil Mickelson, Ochoa ended off her victory with a 20-under-par 268.

Sorenstam closed second position at 9-under-par 279, with Paula Creamer following two shots behind in third.

Placing fourth was Laura Diez, and tied in fifth, Stacy Prammanasudh and Karrie Webb.

On her victory, Ochoa said, “I came here to win and I did it. I knew I could do it because I have a lot of faith in my game and I hope this is going to be a great year for me.” "I learned a lot, and I took my game to a new level, so I'm going to keep trying to repeat myself."

Ochoa is today regarded as one of Mexico’s best athletes ever, and it was in 2006 that she really proved future accolades that she would be the best in the world.
