NUMBER ONE WOODS A CHALLENGE TO BEAT IN 2008 Even though Tiger Woods will not be attending the $5.5m Mercedez Championship held in Kapalua this Thursday, which is seeing the opening of the 2008 PGA Tour season, Tiger Woods remains without a doubt the number one golfer to beat this year.
At the young age of 32, with thirteen championships wins already under his belt, this world-renowned golfing star is hitting the season with the pursuit of matching Jack Nicklaus’ remarkable eighteen championships victory. Deciding to only begin his 2008 season on January 24, where he will be defending his “five-time” title win of the Buick International at Torrey Pines situated in the region of San Diego, many golfers have now the attitude of merely going about their own business, trying to get their lowest score possible, never trying to compete with this great talent, as they know they will always come out second best. "I've learned you can't compare yourself to him. No one can," US veteran Steve Stricker said. "You just have to go about your own business and try and shoot the lowest score possible." To all those of you golfers out there soon to be starting your 2008 PGA Tour season, best of luck to you. May this be the best one yet. We will be watching! |
