WOODS THE ONE TO BEAT 30 January 2008 – It is Tiger Woods that the European top players will be set out to beat at the Dubai Desert Classic coming up this week.
This comes after all the key PGA Tour’s players could not achieve this in last week’s tournament, the Buick Invitational, where Woods took his 62nd PGA title win. The Dubai Desert Classic is a tournament enjoyed by all, as England’s Lee Westwood has said, "Dubai is one of the best tournaments we play". "The tournament is fantastic, it's a great field and it is great Tiger is coming." Henrik Stenson, Westwood’s Ryder Cup Teammate, is preparing to defend his Dubai title, in this the third and final leg of the tours “desert swing”. Commenting, Stenson said, "It is going to take some good golf to defend my title but I'm looking forward to the challenge". The names of other golfers contending for the title include Sergio Garcia, Darren Clarke, Niclas Fasth, Ian Poulter, Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley, Robert Karlsson, and David Howell. The Dubai Desert Classic starts tomorrow. |
